If you are thinking of buying a TX4 look at the site above, the TX4 has serious defects that are being covered up as usual by LTI,
Peter
mate obviously u are going the wong way bout having you’re “serious defects” repaired. i have a tx4 auto so have several friends neither i or they have had any problem with the vehicle as to “serious defects” there has been teething problems but the dealership have been extremly helpful and have rectified any teething problems quickly and efficiently. as for slating the company think youre out of order you may well have problems with youre tx4 this doesn’t mean all tx4 drivers are experiencing the same problems as you’rs. as far as i’m concerned the vehicle is excellent and SAFE
Watch this space, up date soon, new web site, pending court case, back with a vengance !
i have a tx4 i purchased in dec 2006 the first problem was rear door not lining up also the cab was like a bowl of jelly to drive .they fonud the rear axle was worped and the replced it then i broke down twice both accasions it was turbo pipes (that they known about )then ther was the time the cab was at the service dealers for 4 days they could not find any faults .i picked the cab up within the hour i broke down the rac came and found the fault it was the lead to the alternator broke away i have also had the radiater replaced the famous fire protection they also supplied me with 4 new tyres and rims and sent down an engineer to set the front steering track rods etc because it was all out of line also my wipers keep moving from there position the dealers have to reset them and now i have just fond out that i will be having a new gearbox because mine is crunching on top of this the real problem is when any thing goes wrong i have to wait for lti to send down an engineer to confirm what the service dealer say (and believe me it takes weeks) i am in the process of trying to get rid of it when the work is done A FRIDAY AFTERNOON CAB
TX4 faults? Fluctuating engine temp-LTI says it’s normal! Does the cooling fan ever come on? Not that I am aware of. Here in Glasgow we have had a number blown cylinder heads. LTI says there is no connection….£1800 please!
Radiator– mine was fine ’till the rework. short time later started leaking. Caused by removal during rework? Not possible says dealer.
Engine noise after rework!!!! With all sound deadening removed to stop “spontaneous combustion” can hardly hear myself think! Noisier than the FX4 I owned 30 years ago!!! That’s progress.
peter u dont work for lti you joker tx2 was crap tx4 is the ass
TX4 cylinder head blown at 92k miles.Still under warranty BUT Patons are waiting for a spare and this is week 3 off the road. Allegedly there are about a dozen similar up and down the UK awaiting a shipment. The cab is grossly overheated even in winter, and in summer( we do get one in Scotland) you roast. I think that the engine is too big for the space available, and the radiator does not match the cooling performance needed. We’ve had 3 fitted.
Dreading warranty expiry.
THE TX4 IS A PROBLEM WAITING TO HAPPEN WHEN IT HITS A CERTAIN MILEAGE . DEALERS IN SCOTLAND DO NOT KNOW WHY OR HOW IT HAPPENS BUT THEY DO KNOW IT COSTS 3000 TO REPAIR AND IT TAKES 6 DAYS TO GET THE PARTS FROM ITALY THIS IS NOT JUST 1 TAXI THERE ARE A NUMBER OF VEHICHLES IN WITH THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM
Sorry to hear about all the problems, thankfully I no longer own THE “problem”, it was returned to its makers in June 2008. I was relieved of the “problem” to my satisfacton,BUT i have a legal “control” on any further comments !
We are all fully aware of on going issues, the share price of Manganese Bronze and its interim report make interesting reading.
Suffice to say that I will never purchase another of these “Products” as I am sure the figures show many others will not as well !
I own a 56 plate tx2. In three and a half years and 140,000 had 1 flywheel replaced during warranty and I paid for a solid flywheel with clutch after warranty. had 2 timing chains during warranty. Apart from these small albeit inconvenient problems the cab has been a solid workhorse. When I bought it new other drivers couldn’t believe that I bought a TX2 when I could have purchased the newly introduced Peugeot E7 as they were all doing in droves across the Wirral. 3 years later many of these drivers have offloaded their problem alternatives while I am still driving my TX2 getting 30 plus the the gallon. If LTI still made the tx2 I would gladly purchase another as opposed to the thirsty TX4. even with the problems I have had I would still be saving money with my low fuel consumption over a three to four year ownership. If lti put a Japanese engine in their tx4 or next model I would most definately buy one as the alternatives just aren’t up to scratch. Reading the forums on TX4’s problems I am put off buying one and will carry on driving my TX2 untill LTI invest good money on a good engine.
